Scope

This document describes the adaptation procedure for the conversion of the pipelines with a maximum operating pressure over 16 bar to dedicated hydrogen pipelines as an integrated system with new built hydrogen pipelines. This includes the technical assessment of existing gas pipelines for their suitability.

This document is equally applicable for pure hydrogen and hydrogen blends with natural gas and/or biomethane.

For the design, construction, operation and maintenance of hydrogen pipelines EN 1594 is applicable.
