Common Data Environments (CDE) for BIM projects – open data exchange between platforms of different vendors via an open CDE API

Scope

This New Work Item will specify an application programming interface (API) of a CDE for data exchange between CDEs or between a CDE and an application.
It will cover
• the protocol on how to connect to a CDE
• functions and parameters of the interface, including error handling
• the exchange of information via information containers and metadata

A machine-readable specification of the interface will be provided, giving software developers an unambiguous and efficient means for software production. This specification will be in a standardized description language, i.e. open API.
