Scope

This document describes a test method to assess the resistance to permeation of pollution from contaminated soil through the wall of PE multilayer pipes into the transported water.
This method is based on experimental investigations on the rate of the diffusion process of organic substances in polymers.
In this document, the barrier properties of the pipe are assessed with and without bending by determining the permeation of model substances through the barrier layers.
It is applicable for PE multilayer barrier pipes with a barrier layer made of aluminium.
This document is not intended to test the barrier properties of the aluminium material itself.
