Scope

This standard specifies requirements and test methods concerning safety, performance, materials, strength and consumer
information for floatation devices given to children from 0 to 3 years of age (3 kg to 19 kg body weight) for donning around their neck
with the purpose to keep them afloat in the water with the air ways above water level without requiring any action of the wearer or
external help to achieve this safe floating position.
Note 1: Such devices are commonly named “Baby Neck Rings”, Baby Floats”, “Neck Floaties” “Swim Collar” etc.
Note 2: Actions and movements of the user are not restricted. For babies and infants, they are intrinsic and for fun and entertainment;
the device releases the user from the need to act and move for his safety (passive user).
