Scope

This Technical Report provides a compilation of decision trees to support testing of NM. The practices described by the decision trees are in concordance with current regulations and definitions for NM.
The applicability of the proposed decision trees was surveyed during example studies, which were conducted on well-known NMs using different test scenarios. By international experts, the decision trees were found to be helpful tools for structuring test procedures or processes. The decision trees presented here pose an important step towards harmonization of NM testing.
The tool, described in this Technical Report helps various stakeholders to evaluate and harmonize their toxicological and ecotoxicological testing procedures and to make results comparable for industry, consumers and governmental stakeholders. It is of special interest for laboratories, who test nanomaterials.
