This European Standard provides guidance on the hazard analysis (incumbent upon the manufacturer), on pressure increase, the safeguarding concept and damage limitation for stationary pressure equipment for cryogenic helium in all thermodynamic states for allowable operating pressures in excess of 0,5 bar. For pressure equipment with an allowable operating pressure of up to 0,5 bar this document can also be used as a means of assistance.
EXAMPLES Stationary liquid-helium cryostats, cryostats for helium-cooled superconducting magnets, installations for the supply of helium such as valve boxes and transfer tubes.
This European Standard is intended to be used as a guideline for the determination of the specific risk situation of individual helium cryostats and for the development of individual safety protection concepts. Moreover, guidance is given for the operation of the installations.
