Water quality - Guidance on mapping extent and density of Zostera and macroalgae beds in the littoral environment

Scope

This European standard provides guidance for survey design, equipment specification, sampling and data interpretation, of macroalgae and seagrass in the littoral environment. The zone of algae and seagrass is considered to extend out to the infralittoral zone, which is between 5 metres and 20 metres maximum depth. The standard comprises: - development of the sampling programme; - requirements for sampling equipment; - procedures for remote data collection; - procedures for direct sampling in the field; - and data interpretation.
