This technical report sets out guidance for the proper selection, correct choice, correct use, care and maintenance of medical and examination gloves for choosers and users exposed to risks related to latex allergy type I (protein / allergens) and IV ("rubber" allergy, allergic contact dermatitis mainly caused by the chemicals used in the manufacturing process). Users do not always have an in depth knowledge of applicable regulations and standards. Having received feedback from users of medical gloves concerning their difficulties in identifying a glove that would be suitable for their specific applications. This report sets out guidance for the interested parties in: - identifying and understanding the basic aspects of norms and standards; - recognizing what type of information / documentation should be requested in order to ensure that the product meets the user s’ requirements; - helping choose the most suitable glove for the intended use.
