Scope

This standard applies to transport refrigerating systems - which are equipped with eutectic elements - with or without fan(s) - filled with an eutectic substance (e.g. brine, gel) in which cold is stored; - with or without refrigerating systems (see Note) intended to be installed into insulated means of transportation (e.g. lorries, trailers, swap bodies, other transport containers and wagons). The transport refrigerating system is equipped with all the components necessary for the storage, transmission and, if relevant, production of cold as well as for temperature control. - This standard specifies consistent testing regulations for the determination of the operational values in accordance with consistent measurement procedures as well as consistent marking.This standard does not contain any safety requirements.NOTE Freezing of the eutectic elements may be performed both directly by a refrigerating system mounted onto the vehicle and indirectly by means of a cooling brine cooled by a stationary refrigerating system.
