Scope

This European Standard provides a methodology to systematically analyse and evaluate the relative risk of potential damage to movable cultural heritage. It does not provide technical solutions to avoid or control potential deterioration to cultural heritage. The methodology is designed to be adaptable to any scale and type of organisation and management framework employed to protect and preserve cultural heritage.
The risk assessment methodology will help to identify and prioritize risks and the steps for measures necessary to mitigate the risks. The standard covers definitions and terminologies for describing risk, and a methodology to systematically collect risk data, and document risk profiles. It serves to raise awareness of risk amongst those who decide or manage strategies to prevent risk of damage or loss to movable cultural heritage.
