Liquid petroleum products - Determination of derived cetane number (DCN) of middle distillate fuels by combustion in a constant volume chamber

Scope

This document presents a single description for the ignition quality testing of fuels based upon derived cetane test methods using Constant Volume Combustion (CVC) techniques. Adoption of existing test methods and/or new developments are considered in order to provide a single method description that encompasses all equipment available on the market. Necessary correlation and precision has been demonstrated. The test method is applicable to FAME, FAEE and blends thereof with regular distillate fuels.
