Liquid petroleum products - Determination of filterability of middle distillates

Scope

This European Standard specifies a method for determining filterability of middle distillates, especially automotive diesel fuel. It describes techniques to estimate the possible occurrence of filter blocking problems due to undissolved substances in the fuel. It incorporates both simulations for ageing and cold climate storage.

Work shall be done in cooperation with the JWG on FAME that should be responsible for assessing the applicability of the evaluation method for 100% FAME. Inclusion of a cold soak period to precondition the FAME prior to ambient temperature filter blocking testing should be considered. Reporting of the working group’s progress shall be done on a regular basis to WG 24.
