Water quality - Phytoplankton biovolume determination by microscopic measurement of cell dimensions

Scope

This European Standard describes a general procedure for determination of biovolume of marine and fresh water phytoplankton taxa using inverted microscopy (Utermöhl technique). The determination of phytoplankton abundance and composition according to EN 15204 is the prerequisite to calculate the biovolume of a phytoplankton sample.
