Scope

This European Standard specifies a method for the evaluation of the shear strength of a tubular adhesive joint between a cylindrical rod and a timber element (solid wood or wood-based product). It is suitable for application to adhesives intended to be used for thick joints, in on-site assembling or restoration of timber structures, for the purpose of initial evaluation of products and products approval in laboratory conditions. This standard is only intended as a reliable method for assessing the overall performance of an adhesive being used within a specific bonding process (in terms of materials, application procedures and designer's specifications) and is therefore closely related to a correct application of the product, according to the designer's or manufacture's instructions.
