Adhesives for on-site assembling or restoration of timber structures - Comparative evaluation of the shear strength of adhesive joints and solid wood

Scope

This standard specifies a method for the evaluation of the shear strength of an adhesive joint in comparison to the shear strength of the solid wood which constitutes the timber adherents. It is suitable for application to adhesives intended to be used for thick joints, for the purpose of initial evaluation of products and product approval and/or for the purpose of on-site acceptance testing of a given batch of adhesive. This standard in only intended as a reliable method for assessing the overall performance of an adhesive being used within a specific bonding process (in terms of materials, application procedures and designer's specifications) and is therefore closely related to a correct application of the products, according to the designer's or the manufacture's instructions.
