Detection and enumeration of Enterococci in sludges — Part 2: Miniaturised method (Most Probable Number) by inoculation in liquid medium

Scope

This part of this European Standard describes a miniaturized most probable number (MPN) method for the quantitative detection of Enterococci in sludge.
It is suitable to evaluate the log reduction of Enterococci through treatment as well as the quality of the end product.
The user should, prior to analysis, validate the method for the particular type of sample they wish to analyse: sludges.
The method has a limit of detection of approximately 10 cfu/g wet weight.
