Scope

A European standard for motorway detection equipment, based on performance requirements, would be of benefit for both the administrations and the industries involved. The standard could make use of (a choice of) categories depending on the type of system (traffic measure) involved, and the requirements of that system. Each category would then describe the nature of the data required, and the related requirements. The market can anticipate on these requirements for its development efforts, and road owners are then able to focus more on functionality, and rely on the standard for technical conformity.
