Scope

The standard covers the assessment of migration of unsuspected organic substances from products intended for use in contact with drinking water. 'Unsuspected organic substance' means that it was not specified in the formulation given to the regulatory approval body. The range of materials to be assessed will be specified in the European Acceptance Scheme (EAS). The assessment will be applied to migration water produced by other CEN standards (e.g. EN 12873-1). The standard harmonises the operation of the extraction of substances from migration water, application of GC-MS procedures and interpretation of data.
