Scope

This European standard specifies the electrical requirements and testing for PPE Footwear with electrically insulating outsole for protection from unintended contact with low voltage live parts in dry conditions. This standard is limited to low voltage installations up to 1000 volts AC.
The purpose of this product is to prevent the current passing from the body to the ground via the feet or from one foot to the other foot.
This product is not suitable for Live working, which is covered by EN50321-1:2018 Live working- Footwear for Electrical protection Insulating Footwear and Overboots.
This standard does not cover anti-static, or partially conductive footwear.
The products designed and manufactured according to this standard contribute to the safety of the users provided they are used by skilled persons, in accordance with safe methods of work and the instructions for use.
Non-electrical risks are covered by other standards such as Safety footwear, Chain saw, Chemical resistance Footwear standards.

NOTE: DC use will be considered once further information is available.
