Commission Regulation 2024/1103 establishes ecodesign requirements for the placing on the market and putting into service of domestic local space heaters with a nominal heat output of 50 kW or less and commercial local space heaters with a nominal heat output of the product or a single tube segment heat output of 300 kW or less. This Regulation also lays down ecodesign requirements for separate related controls.
Article 3 'Ecodesign requirements' establishes that local space heaters and separate related controls (covered by the Commission Regulation) shall meet the ecodesign requirements indicated in the Annex II, which include, amongst other:
Article 3 also indicates that compliance with ecodesign requirements shall be measured and calculated in accordance with the methods set out in Annex III (Measurement methods and calculations) and Annex IV (Transitional methods).
In that context, Annex III indicates that 'for the purposes of compliance and verification of compliance with the requirements of this Regulation, measurements and calculations shall be made using harmonised standards the reference numbers of which have been published for this purpose in the Official Journal of the European Union, or using other reliable, accurate and reproducible methods that take into account the generally recognised state-of-the-art methods'.
