European Standards and International standards are being developed in the field of Circular Economy.

Some of them are horizontal standards covering European-specific prerequisites, legislation, and policies. These standards provide recommendations, requirements, methodologies and tools to support and measure the transition towards a circular economy, whilst contributing to a sustainable green economy. These standards are being developed by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 473 - Circular Economy which was established in 2023 by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), or by the ISO/TC 323 - Circular Economy established by the International Standardization Organization (ISO).

In addition to horizontal aspects of Circular Economy, there are a set of Technical Bodies developing material-specific or product-specific or sector-specific standards Europe.
