Authenticity of information — Extensions to Content Credentials for ISO 32000-2 (PDF 2.0) ISO/CD TS 32008

Scope

This PDF Extension shows how to extend the ISO 32000-2 specification by adding support for the following:
• interoperable document based electronic signature workflows
• capturing parameters of a signing process defined by the initiator that includes one or multiple signers
• the mechanism for allowing signers to fill predefined fields
• the use of a digital signature in conjunction with an electronic signature allows verification of the document’s integrity
• provisions for data needed to produce an audit trail
• the process of self-signing by one or multiple signers
• combination of traditional digital signature approach with popular electronic signatures
This extension describes provisions in PDF files that allow the initiator to prepare a document for signing by
• defining a list of signers
• identifying signers with predefined authentication methods
• authentication method(s) that may or may not be required
• defining additional fields that the signer fills
• prescribing the mechanism for building an audit trail
Each signature process as described by this document shall end with applying a digital signature in order to ensure the document’s integrity
