CEN and ISO are developing European and International standards providing requirements and test methods for furniture. In addition, they also cover the safety specificities of children's furniture (furniture intended for children).
CENELEC and IEC are developing standards covering furniture with electrical installations within furniture or furniture with electrically motorized parts.
In the European Union, furniture is covered by the General Product Safety Regulation (and coexisting General Product Safety Directive), which rely greatly on European standards.
