Scope

This European standard specifies the safety requirements and tests for locomotives for use in underground mining (i.e. mine locomotives) and other underground workings (e.g. tunnelling locomotives). This European standard identifies and takes account of the hazards arising from the use in mines and other underground workings of such equipment and describes methods for the elimination or reduction of these hazards, and for the safeguarding of personnel and machinery. These hazards are listed under clause 4.
