Scope

Development of a specification for a universal mail item identifier that can be pre-printed by manufacturers of envelopes, addressing labels, postcards and similar products.
The standard will provide a technical foundation for a variety of customer and postal applications where knowledge of mail item identifiers could be used for tracking purposes as well as for monitoring quality of service and similar applications.
