Scope

This European standard applies to cast iron pipeline components used for the construction of discharge systems for buildings and of drains, normally as gravity systems but also vacuum systems, inside and outside buildings, above and below ground.
The range of nominal sizes extends form DN 40 to DN 600 inclusive.
This standard specifies the requirements for the materials, dimensions and tolerances, mechanical properties, appearance, standard coatings for cast iron pipes , fittings and accessories. It also indicated performance requirements for all components, including joint. Quality assurance is covered in an informative annex.
It covers pipes, fittings and accessories cast by any foundry process or manufactured by fabrication of cast components, as well as corresponding joints.
The roof gullies used for siphonic systems are not relevant from this standard.
