This standard deals with precast reinforced hollow core slabs, made in normal weight concrete and having hollow cores in the shape of longitudinal voids to reduce weight. The cross section of these elements is constant along the element and presents one vertical symmetrical axis. The longitudinal cores have a circular, quasi-circular, oval or oblong shape. The elements have lateral edges provided with a longitudinal profile in order to make a shear key for transfer of vertical shear through joints between contiguous elements. For diaphragm action the joints have to function as horizontal shear joints.
