Scope

This part specifies a method called the "Close-proximity method (CPX)" for measuring the effect of road surfaces on traffic noise in cases when tyre/road noise dominates. It has the same primary purpose as WI 00227182, but is intended to be used specifically in applications such as: - Noise characterisation of road surfaces at any (almost arbitrary) site, with the main purpose of checking compliance with a surface specification; - monitoring or testing of the state of maintenance, e.g. wear of and damage to surfaces, as well as clogging and the effect of cleaning of porous surfaces; etc.
