Scope

Megatexture is the name given to an area of texture (on 1987, PIARC defined the wavelength range as about 0,05 m - 0,5 m) ranged between macrotexture and unevenness. Megatexture is a defect of the flatness of the road surface which badly affects the tyre-road interaction phenomena by generating tyre vibrations with consequences in terms of vehicle rolling noise, lack of friction of tyre on pavement, vibrations of sprung and unsprung vehicle masses: so it is the main factor of reducing road users comfort and safety. The aim of the work items is to prepare a draft standard of a megatexture measurement method.
